Should there be a private message option or should we just leave the site the way it is? |
|
YES!! IT would be awesome too be able to talk to people without cluttering the questions with comments(it a pretty clunky method of having an active conversation) Its would make this place more social and allow users to talk amongst themselves. Also the ability to friend people would be nice |

Personally, if we did this, there should e a minimum Karma restriction, maybe 250ish? That would say you are somewhat useful to the community. The more karma, the more you are going to come back and want to ask answer questions. So the capability of private messaging would be for people that will be active and that have shown great value/usefulness to the community |

I'm not sure if a change like that would be beneficial to the community and improve the quality of the site. Sometimes keeping it simple and making minor changes here and there will keep a good thing good, you know what I mean. Start adding this and changing that then it becomes something else and the purpose lost. |

I think there should be. I mean, come on! Chris and all them say they wanna bring people together, but how can people come together if there's no personal messaging? Yeah, I know. Chris has other sites that have it. But not everyone is on all of his sites, and not everyone wants to be either. Some people are happy only being on this one, and they don't want anything else. |

I can see personal messaging being a good and bad thing. It be great to continue helping someone after their initial question was answered. Say someone needed help recording game play we got that down then he needs to know how to get quality up and such. It be great private messaging. But there should be a minumum karma. I can see this being abused. Say advertising. If anyone here had a Myspace or Facebook. Spam like that. So I still would think it be a good idea. |

It was highly requested on the question http://lockergnome.net/questions/68021/what-are-some-ways-we-can-improve-the-site. You will need to request this to the OSQA service first or develop the code for the OSQA community to use and install it on to the lockergnome.net site. |

I might as well close this topic as there is nobody else wishing to share their views. If somebody does share, I will keep this open for another 24hrs
