Is there a cheap way of recording xbox 360 gameplay?

If you want to record it via HDMI, it wont work since the device has HDCP (high bandwidth digital content protection).

The downside is that it is recording only at best 480i video, not 720p.

If you want to get a 720p picture recording, there is http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=n82e16815116030, These are designed for gamers recording gameplsy.
