i use linksys, i have had good luck with them. the only thing dangerous about them is if you leave them unsecured. if you are worried about getting cancer from it, dont, home routers are not powerful enough, and im not sure if any of them are...

In short; they're fine.
Steps to take:
Change the admin password (also change the username if possible)
Change the default SSID
Use MAC Address Filtering - create a list of 'allowed' devices from the devices you have in your home
Hide your SSID - this does not broadcast your SSID to wireless devices
Use WPA2 Encryption with a complex key - the generators are good for this - do not use your own passwords/phrases even though they may be easier to remember

i used to have a netgear, and i wouldn't class them as safe, i leave my router on all night and all day, as you are supposed to be able to, but the temperatures that it used to reach on the underside, they wont give you cancer but they may burn your house down if you dont let them have air
OK; this is an easy question (I think). 5 Answers
