What Should I Consider When Buying a Vehicle GPS System?

In no particular order:

• Cost to feature ratio (how much "bang for your buck" you're getting.)

• A must, these days, is Bluetooth support so you can pair it with your cellphone and other mobile devices.

• Also a must, these days, is Turn by turn navigation which means the device anticipates your next necessary turn and warns you ahead of time. It's not much of a navigator if it tells you to exit the highway 10 seconds too late, or doesn't tell you at all.

• If you want it to read actual street names to you, look for units that have Text-to-Speech capability.

• If you want to be able to keep your eyes on the road more, look for units that have Voice Recognition capability.

• If you want real-time traffic reports, look for a unit that supports that & be sure you're OK with the service subscription cost typically associated with that.

• A good, quality screen and a reasonably fast processor (all the contemporary units will have the latter)

• Small in size, easy to remove and carry with you when you're parked in a "questionable area" or using it in a rental car.

• Readily available map updates so you're not stuck with outdated information.

Free Lifetime Traffic, Lane Assistance, Many POI (Points of Interests), and and Text To Speech Speak street and roads.

I thought your Ford Focus comes with Microsoft SYNC, GPS Navigation, etc.

You just talk to your car, and things happen?!
