A flamewar is anytime an online discussion degenerates into name-calling, insults, attacks and completely off topic remarks. It can involve as few as two people or a group of people using any computer-mediated form of communication (dialup Bulletin Board System like I started out with; Usenet newsgroup; web-based discussion forum, etc. |

"Flaming (also known as bashing) is hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users." No, I wasn't asking for actual flame wars, just any links to sites that define it such as you did No problem then. Just click "I'm Feeling Lucky" for Flame Wars on Google. ;-) |

From Urban Dictionary "A flame war is a heated argument between two individuals, that results in those involved posting personal attacks on each other during or instead of debating the topic at hand." Urban Dictionary link |

either that or the problem when people online choose to go crazy over stupid things for no reason |

The great flame war of '99 happened when everyone and everything on the internet was mean. Everyone was trolls. So glad it's over but I will never forgive Usenet. |
