I only used it a little, and it seems interesting. I wish you could do some sort of "Status update" though.
What do you think?

Tried it. Can't seem to change my avatar. That, and Weird Al isn't on there yet.

I think they are trying to stay different then other social media services by not having a "status update" feature. Steve Jobs even said this isn't facebook or twitter. I have used Ping a little bit, but I'm not that into music, so it doesn't appeal to me but it does look interesting.

Twitter is as far as I go with anything relating to online networking. I haven't tried it yet, I may though, but it isn't something that interests me. I'd much rather keep my music tastes to myself.

You say that Twitter is as far as you go with Online Networking. You are away that this website is "Technically" an Online Networking site right? Just thought I should share that with you haha.

I've signed up and turned it on, but I haven't really used it yet. I doubt I will have time to really read all the artist updates. I'm only following two artists so far and I have dozens of entries for each.

Ping a is magical thing made by Apple, of course it's going to be slow to catch on, but in the long run, we may see some usefulness. It like with the iPad, people didn't accept it at first, but then saw that it was too, a magical product. The only things I would change would be that you could remove accounts follow you that have been disabled. I had that happen to me already. Apparently Steve Jobs was on Ping, but then somehow it must have been hacked and the guy switch the names and now is suspended.

Yeah, apparently I'm now following some guy named Nathan Volker, in play of Steve Jobs. And I have no way to access his profile to unfollow him, because his account is disabled.

I dont like the fact you are unable to assign a nickname. From what i've seen it uses your name from your itunes billing information.

This can be annoying as i like to use my nickname 'Uelogy' for online use, and making music under etc,

Unless i've missed a setting somewhere.

I think Ping is very neat, and it offers a personal angle to bands and artists that we didn't have before. For instance, seeing Linkin Park say "starting rehearsals for our next tour" offers a personal connection with them. Also being suggested music that you wouldn't have noticed before will please customers while at the same time enhancing Apple's revenue.
