I think you pretty much covered it in your question... Other than online storage people mainly use the media you mentioned. I'm sorry this is just a dumb question.

Nah, it is a dumb question. Lately, I'm finding more and more troll-like questions designed simply to generate response content.

Of course, this response is different as it is stored using empty Coors and Bud can in a binary formation.

Not a dumb question at all, just morons who can't think about why someone would want to know that. A person stealing corporate data would want to use archaic methods of storing data so that it would decrease the ability of them to be caught. Perhaps OP is a forensics invesigator trying to cover all known vectors. I just want to say thank you to the responders for proving once again there are no stupid questions, just morons who don't know the answer. Rule #1 don't feed the troll. Search it on wikipedia and post everything and let it be done.
