I don't want to download it, I only want to watch it, therefore I'm not performing an illegal act.

It is still illegal. You are watching something that is supposed to be paid for. But its not being paid for. Your not supposed to be able to watch movies online for free anyway.

Yes but I'm not the individual who is posting it online for viewing, therefore I haven't committed an illegal crime for only watching it. It's not as if I paid for the pirated DVD

still illegal. you download when you watch anyway, so it is no different to downloading a film burning it watching it once and destroying it.
