I was wondering because im tired with windows vista and i don't have enough money to buy windows 7 but luckily i have windows xp so is it okay if i downgrade from vista to xp, i have backed up all my work in my external hard drive too. THANKS!!!!!!!!

Yes.

You can put any os on the machine you like. However you may need drivers for specific components. I checked the HP website and there are XP drivers for your machine so it should be fine. The downgrade might even keep them all working anyway.

I would recommend jest saving up for 7. You cant upgrade from XP to 7 anyway. But I think you should be able to. I don't like vista too.

You can put xp on your laptop I have vista and xp installed on my laptop ( duelboot ) As i had vist die on me befor so i put xp as a back up OS just in case, So i can get into my files on my laptop.

I have a desktop (main computer) with Windows 7 (upgraded from Vista) and a laptop with XP.

The reason I bring this up is because my Laptop is about 5 years old. I recently upgraded the RAM from 512MB to 2GB. But I don't want a large OS on it. XP is lightning fast since the re-installation. It's small enough to be fast yet powerful enough to do everything I need to do.

Both computers are HP by the way.

So yes, it should handle it and I would do it.
