I'm thinking about getting a Mac book pro but don't like that fact that the battery is built in. I usually use the battery until it's dead and remove it when the computer is plugged in. I obviously can not do this with a mac. Is there some way to not charge the battery when the computer is plugged in?

Well, on the old non-integrated battery MacBook Pro's it was easy -- take the battery out, plug in the AC power cord and use your computer.

No idea if there's a way to force the computer not to charge when on AC power. One would think there's a setting for that.

If it really bothers you that much it's not that hard to take out all you need is a philips 00 screwdriver

it's not that it bothers me at all, just something I have to think about because the estimated battery life of 5 years will probably be cut in half for someone like me that has the computer on almost all day every day
