The Internet Explorer 9 Beta came out today. What is everyone's thoughts on it? I personally think that it is a step in the right direction for Microsoft with the streamlined UI and speed increases. Although I feel that the new icon is like a step back it looks like the old like IE5 icon just with a yellow loop and the different colors.

Here is the UI:

Here is what the new icon looks like:

Just a update i ran the Acid3 test on IE9 and it got a 92/100 which is decent considering how poor IE8's score was. But the animation of the test was not very smooth so it has some work to be done but not bad of a internet browser still in Beta. And i was just curious so I ran the Acid3 test on the iPod Touch 4th Generation and i got a 93/100 using safari.

I think it is a BIG!!!!!!!!! improvement. I could not stand Internet Explorer before. I might actually use this as my default browser!! I love it :)

I was considering the same thing but I will bot until the final comes out or chrome does something to make me upset with them.

It's a HUGE improvement. Pages load faster and scroll smoother. It also matches with windows 7. Right now im using it but I am lagging as I fill in this form. It seems to expand in a choppy manner. But I guess thats just the beta. I think microsoft got alot of ideas from google chrome however. They both split tabs into seperate processes, (which in my oppinion a good way to hog resources) but people with a large amount of memory won't care about this. Windows 7 thinks they are 2 seperate windows :O.

Right now I can't see any post options so im going to take a wild guess on posting the image for the google chrome and internet explorer page view comparisons. Photobucket I guess the little bars under the links represent the time spent on each site?

EDIT: It just said lockergnome.net has stopped responding lol. It seems to be crashing alot. Specifically lockergnome.net

Internet explorer 8 also made windows think that it was two windows. I wonder what lockergnome.net has running that messes up ie9...

I do like the new look. But I still seems like it will be like all other IEs. I like how the tabs are to the right of the address bar, and I also like how there is little buttons. I have not been able to try it yet but from what I head I think the HTML 5 support will be much better.

  • I will probably not be using this. I am a fan of Google chrome.

  • I like how the file size is small.

This one will be the best release, I think it will be so popular when it will be released. MS have added lot of advanced features. Give it a try.

Definitely worth a try from everyone in my opinion. Very fast and standards compliant and the pinned sites feature is just great. The Tab bar location might be bit iffy at start but at least to me I've grown to not hate it.

The only problem I see is that people in my family and no doubt others to, still have windows xp and won't be able to use IE9 so I feel bad that they won't get to use IE because that is what they are used to using if microsoft had made this xp compatible it would have been the best. (I know why they didn't I'm just saying). My grandparents are so used to the IE logo that I made firefox have the IE icon on their desktop so that they will be able to click on it and get to the internet otherwise they would be lost.

If it's NOT broke, don't F@C% with it! I usually let others be the Guinea Pigs/Lab Rats before installing, updating, etc.

Are you talking about the icon or Internet Explorer? Because IE DEFINITELY needed a fix.
