I'm looking at getting into blogging, since everyone is doing it these days. However, I'm unsure as to which blogging service to go with.

Do you have any suggestions? Possibly one that doesn't require me to have a web hosting service.

Thanks.

Blogger or Wordpress. Blogger is for people whom aren't as good at computers.

I disagree with that statement. Blogger isn't for dummies, which is what you implied with your statement. It's just another platform for blogging, and a popular one at that. It's an alternative for those who hate wordpress as well, such as myself, who actually do know a lot about computers. Thanks!

You're right, I'm sorry. What I mean is that it's easier to use and set up. Also, may I ask why you're fed up with Wordpress?

There are a few things. Limited storage, and you have to pay for more. Wordpress starts out with only 3gigs vs 10 with blogger. Wordpress is ad supported, meaning they will, or retain the right to show ads on your blog any time they'd like. Also, and probably most importantly not all their features of free. You have to pay a fee to unlock some "premium" features such as having the option to have your own domain name. I have a list trust me...

I would suggest http://wordpress.com/ it has many themes and features that you can add to the blog to make it personal. :)

I recommend one of these for a free blog, if you don't need to run it on your own domain name --

The two top blogging services out there that can potentially be free are WordPress and Blogger. I would highly recommend you to try out WordPress. This is what I use on my own website. http://techjohnson.com

If you would like to create a free account for WordPress, head over to http://wordpress.com.

I would recommend Wordpress.com over any other. Wordpress in my opinion is the most powerful and feature rich blogging service.

Wordpress stinks. My account is locked. I may have hit a snafu and caused the problem my self. Typical PEBCAK.

I think Weebly is intended for making sites not just blogging. For someone who just wants to blog wordpress or blogger might be a better fit.

Free and Easy is Blogger... If you don't know anything about design and add-ons,,, it's the best.

Wordpress is very good, but can trip up novice users more easily.

Overall, I don't suggest free blogging services... Unless one is using it for personal uses such as family/friend updates with photos and news... Which then leads me to suggest Facebook :)

Tumblr- Good for getting into blogging with the least amount of knowledge. This also means it lacks features that moderate bloggers use)

Blogspot- Great if you know basic computer knowledge and there are many features built in. This means once you are more comfortable you can start using those features and build up your website.

Wordpress- Do not be afraid of trying this out as it isnt as hard to use as it seem. This platform is built with enough features for you to build your blog to be something like TechCrunch so you wish.

So it all comes down to the level of skills you feel you have and what your goal is for your website. Good luck.
