Halloween (also spelled Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday observed on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saints' Day, but is today largely a secular celebration.

Common Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, ghost tours, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, committing pranks, telling ghost stories or other frightening tales, and watching horror films.

Do people still go out door-to-door, Trick or Treating?

In some neighborhoods trick or treating is still popular but it is generally restricted to very limited, secure areas. Today, I have noticed towns set up things with police security, last year they called it "Junk in the Trunk" where people signed up their cars and kids moved from one to the other getting candy. The days are gone where kids go out by themselves and go door to door for half the night like I did as a child.

Still, I plan on dressing up my 3yo nephew as Chucky :)
