Every once and a while, I'll be browsing the web, or downloading something on my iMac, and it'll just lose connectivity. In the network preferences, it says that it's still connected, but nothing will happen. It usually comes back in less than a minute, but its annoying.

It's has nothing to do with the router or anything by the way. When my iMac stops working, all the other computers on the network work fine.

I'm assuming your iMac is connected to the Net via an Ethernet cable, rather than using Airport (wireless)?

Yes it is. It is set up just a few feet from the router, so I use a wired connection. Should I use Airport instead?

No, wired's preferable and I have the same setup -- my iMac 27" is very close to my router & WAP. I have Airport turned off, in fact, on the iMac. Wish I could offer some help, but I was hoping it was a wireless issue I could help with.

Thanks anyway. I may try Apple's new Express Lane thing. I looked into it, and this exact problem is listed.

Probably the first thing to Check is for updated drivers for the iMac.

We have the same problem with two new iMacs out of the box.
