We have a small Internet company. We have to enter a lot of credit card payments and our only method is the little calculator type credit card machine. and we have to do them one at a time. Are there any other methods to processing such things that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Twitter co-founder's next big thing: Mobile Payments - Square, a new venture from a co-founder of Twitter, has launched a free application that allows anyone to accept credit card payments on the iPhone, iPad and Android phones.

The San Francisco-based Square, the brainchild of Twitter chairman Jack Dorsey, first talked about the service last December with a possible launch date in March. It is now live in the US and includes the first shipments of the free hardware plug-in, the "Square" card reader.

The reader uses a free application downloaded from Apple's iTunes or the Android Market - the online store for smartphones powered by Google's Android software ... more

I'm waiting for my Square Card Reader to arrive. It will work with my iPhone & iPad.

Hi Robert, I love gadgets like this and I follow Jack on Twitter, but this as it stands won't work. People want to feel safe and secure when they give there details. I buy a lot of stuff via the internet and there is always a little doubt when you type in your details, I would never use this as it stands.

I've other methods of accepting credit card payments. The fees are what gets the seller. I end up losing some of my profit to those fees, but getting paid now -vs- later is a choice I'll make on a case to case basis.

this also wont work because he has to type them in, not slide a card

There are only a few ways to enter Credit Card numbers, (Sliding the cards, Typing them manually, etc). Both methods can be done with Square, so why won't this work?

I have some experience with POS systems. So you're in a small business which runs multiple debit/credit cards daily- the devils in the details man. Contact me off-line - let me know, and I'll do what I can to help so you don't get pinched..

Credit card transactions can be tricky; its not as simple as it sounds and the exposure is dangerous. Its all about processing-who,what,when and how. Personally, I don't like PayPal much less this new Twitter thang.I don't see a dentist for a haircut.More and more business is run across the backbone. Do it right or you'll lose your ass.

the most affordable way I found to accept credit cards is a payment processor called Pay Anywhere. It allows you to accept credit cards on your smartphone (swiped or keyed in) and only has processing fees associated with it. If you want more info on it I suggest you check out one of this blog post. explain to me what pay anywhere is

Square is such a fantastic way of heightening POS.Works on virtually any website that accepts credit card payments. It makes online shopping faster and easier. It is light in weight, portable and very easy to use. Square service does not need any merchant account. You can plug the square credit card reader into I-phones and I-pads.it is the easiest way of processing credit card through mobile phones.
