You can edit HD movies on any computer. Mac Minis are not that underpowered of computers. I edit video on a Mac Mini (not too often), and it's not the fastest, but it's like two-three years old. The new Mac Mini is almost as powerful as my iMac, so you can't tell me that the Mac Mini is a bad computer for video editing, it's just not the best for video editing. It is a pretty good computer for any editing of any kind. For what you pay, you get a really good computer. The Mac Mini is a really good alternative if you do not have any other computer for video editing.

It is going to be hard and long to render video. Already editing standard video on a mac mini is not recommended, but possible

I wouldn't recommend it. I know I'm probably going to get bashed for this, but I don't care; Mac isn't very good, at all. If you have a PC, stay with it. Everything that can be used on a PC, can be used on Mac, but sometimes Mac's wont let you use third-party equipment, and I was so peeved when my $110.00 headphones didn't work on my brand new Macbook Pro. I took it back. Going from Mac to PC is a waste of money. The only reason they're even "less susceptible" to a virus is because they're so expensive, that not as many people use them, and more people are on PCs or Linux. I wouldn't recommend Mac's for anything. Stick with windows, and you'll never come to a road block, as long as you have a virus protector.

Anything you can do on a Mac, you can do on a PC. And you get better hardware for your money most of the time. The only reason you would need to buy a Mac just to edit videos on it would be if you REALLY needed to use Final Cut or something. There are plenty video editors for windows, and speaking of viruses: If you have a good anti-virus and common sense (!) you shouldn't worry. Heck, some security experts say that Windows 7 is actually more secure than Mac OS. I don't know if that's true or not, but the point is, you only get viruses if you don't know what you are doing. So keep what you already have, or if your current computer is old, build yourself a new one. That way you could get a MUCH better computer than a Mac Mini for the same money, or less.

But to answer the question: Yes, HD videos can be edited on a Mac Mini. I actually have a 5 year old Powermac G5 and it can edit HD videos too. It's veeeery slow, even when editing SD, but it's possible. I prefer my nice custom built PC :)

Its possible , but i would never recommend it. I tryed 16:9 video editing on a netbook and it really was slow but not that slow. Almost all 1gb was used using camtasia! Plus , rendering a 8 minute video took 20 minutes.

Yes, you can. But only on the 2009 and 2010 Mac Mini's.

Any computer can edit HD Video but there is no guarantee that it will be quick. The mac mini is not a bad computer so it should edit it quite well.

Lije everyone else has stated, not really recommended but it is possible. When my Macbook was my primary machine, it would render HD videos fine, but it would not only take a long time, but when it was rendering the computer was pretty much useless. All the CPU Power and RAM are being used to edit that video. So if you get a Mac Mini, get a fast processor and as much RAM as you can get.
