I have heard this word allot, especially in the UK but I don't know where it has come from. Some guy might have just been in a shed and had made it up or someone might have been coding a video game and made it up. I don't know, LoL, so what is the truth behind 'pwned?' |

I think it came from when people used to write own or owned they would accidentally type the letter P instead of O as they are next to each other on the keyboard. |

As it means to own you and as such people used to say 'owned', it's basically just the leet way of saying owned, pwn means to compromise or control in hacker jargon. So I pwned you, I owned you. That was a wikipedia lift, my deepest apologies. |
