Here. I had been away from my desktop for the weekend and today when I turned it on the mouse and keyboard were spazzing when I boot up into Windows XP (with AVG free edition) and I'm unable to log into my account because the keys make "dut" sounds every now and then and ether don't type anything or type the same letter twice, and the mouse just jumps to random spots if you move the mouse. I can get into it through safe mode but cant access any of my documents.

Both my keyboard and mouse were connected through the PS/2 ports. I had tried connecting the mouse through a USB port and it worked flawlessly, but I need to wait a few days before I can get a USB keyboard to try that out.

I also tried to boot up my linux mint disks (which I use on my laptop) on the thing and they seem to fail to display anything in Live CD mode. Ive never tried them on my desktop before so I'm not sure if its part of the problem.

It try and find out the specks on my computer and update this with said info later.

So my question is, is this some glitch in my computer or some virus? If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. I've got around 180 gigs of important data on there.

It sounds as if they're faulty. Have you tried using a different mouse and keyboard? If not, you should.

If you don't have any extra, go to your closest electronic store, and buy a cheap set, just to make sure.
