I was, for quite a while, a regular user of Facebook until more and more of the updates to the service eventually managed to convince me not to use the service, however, I still see Facebook as a viable means of social networking for those in favour of what Facebook allows you to do. Personally, I prefer Twitter for many reasons, due to it being, in my opinion, a more accessible, user-friendly and enjoyable social networking platform to use. I also use Twitter to check up on what's happening in the technological and entertainment industries, as well as using it to ask developers of software that I use for support or to suggest new features. So, do you use either, neither or both of these services, and in what aspects do you believe Twitter triumphs over Facebook and vice-versa? If you use neither, what would convince you to start using either Twitter or Facebook again / for the first time? If you use twitter, you can follow me at @Maeurd to find out what I find interesting in the world of tech. |

Nobody cares if you're eating, taking a dump, here and there. Many people hate twitter because of that... Facebook on the other hand, people use it to keep in touch with each other, talk to old friends, post whatever they want too. Facebook>Twitter any day. Twitter just gets you the latest breaking news haha. Other than that, nobody cares if you're eating lunch right now or something.. |

Twitter gets the silly reputation for being where people report on what they're eating or whatnot, but it provides all the same connectivity and relationship building that Facebook does if you use it for that purpose. About the only thing Facebook does better than Twitter is a) annoy people (with all the quizzes, Zynga games until you block them all, etc.) and b) threaded discussions, though they're only marginally better than on Twitter depending on which client you use. Besides, this is about as good a news and information discovery tool as they come --- http://search.twitter.com/ If I had to quit one, I would quit Facebook in a heartbeat. I find myself basically maintaining my Facebook just because a few old friends and my parents don't follow Twitter. |
