I have a monitor hooked up to my laptop for dual screening, and i have a speaker system.

wheneever i plug the monitor in through VGA, the sound runs through the speakers. whenever i plug it in through HDMI, it plays through the monitor speakers. I know HDMI carries sound, but the only audio jack on the monitor is audio in, not out.

so how do i get my sound systen to work through HDMI?

Which OS. In widows, I think you can go to the playback devices (speaker icon on the right task bar >right click>playback devices> disable the audio over HDMI by right clicking HDMI audio and disable it)
