I'm looking for an opensource/free non branded media player for my website. It needs to be a Vimeo or Ooyala style player with controls that only appear on mouse over. I would like to have the option to place my logo in the bottom right corner on playback.

Any Suggestions?

Use HTML5 or YouTube. Where's your website located?

Not everyone is able to use HTML5 so that is not an option. Second, I don't want a youtube video. I want to control my content not someone else. Have a player that pulls the videos from my server is what I'm looking for.

Thanks for your suggestions though, but that's not what I'm after.

You could try FlowPlayer. I've never used it myself, but from the examples, it looks like it may be what you are looking for.

Examples: http://osric.com/chris/flowplayer/examples/

Downloads: http://flowplayer.org/download/index.html

You'll notice the the GPL (free) version embeds the FlowPlayer logo. Just where or how intrusive that is, I'm not sure. I wasn't able to find an example of the free version in use.

EDIT:

Okay I found an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhf49R65WLo

It's at the end of the tutorial. It looks to me like it shows a small logo at the bottom left of the video, but only as it is loading. It seems to disappear once the video starts. Not bad at all if you ask me.

Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to look that up and gather the links. Unfortunately that's not what I'm doing. The controls don't disappear on mouseover and like you mention it does have a logo. It also doesn't have the option to place my own logo in the bottom right corner of the player window.

Thanks Again!

Actually the second example from the first link shows the disappearing controls that reappear with a mouseover. You have the start the vid for the controls to disappear. You could always use a video editor to embed your logo before uploading it to your web server.

Nothing to say about the FlowPlayer logo though... I doubt there's anything you could do about that aside from getting one of the commercial options.

This page very clearly demonstrates all the options by letting you control how it looks and displays it in realtime:

I'll give it another look.

If you want the player to be everything you want it to be, exactly as you have envisioned, why don't you just make one yourself?

You can get a trial of Flash from adobe.com
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=flash&promoid=GXWGG

Then you can create your own custom player just as you want it.

That would be a brilliant idea...but I'm so not that skilled.

Well, you claim to be a designer. It might look good on your little e-resumé if you could say you made the flash player ;)

Make your own HTML5 Video Player. It's easy, free, and not branded. Plus, your viewers don't need annoying Flash plugins and it will have a less risk of crashing if using Internet Explorer or Firefox. Here's how to make one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nN8Si5LKyY

I was thinking that too, but JW Player is complex to setup and Flash, which a lot of browsers struggle with.
