Okay, so I'm looking for a laptop. I want a PC that has full capabilities to run Linux (Ubuntu). I'm thinking of getting an HP because of all the great things I've heard. I'd like an i3 or i5 processor or an AMD Phenom. I'm going to be doing web design and some Photoshop and video editing. Although I need a computer that will last a while even if someday I'll want to switch to hard core video editing or something.
I've been looking at something like this one:
I like the idea of having a fingerprint reader in the laptop, too. Although I know it wouldn't work with Ubuntu.

You want an i5 and an ati 4800 - 5700 if possible. dont get asus either Why no Asus? I knew that Acer is horrible, but I've heard some good things about Asus. i had one, and it made this high pitched noise, i sent it back twice and they only made it worse, and a lot of them have this problem Okay, point accepted. A few of my friends have them and they don't seem to have this problem, though. i wouldn't risk it though Yeah, I know, I won't. I've wanted an HP anyways. HP's failure rate for Pavilions is one of the highest in the industry. I can't see how anyone, knowing this, would take an HP notebook over an ASUS (which have among the lowest) read my link, thats why you don't get asus

I'd go for an HP/Compaq, the minimum graphics card that you will want would be an ATI Radeon 4200.

For me, I wouldn't go HP. Try something from Dell. Maybe one of the new Dell Inspiron laptops?
