I have an anxiety disorder and I want to know ways of reducing it? I can't go into detail about my condition. |

If you are frequently subject to nicotine, then you should quit taking any products that contain nicotine. Cigarettes, chewing tobacco, etc. Nicotine is an addicting drug, when you use it, it gets into your blood stream and develops nicotine levels, like sugar levels and stuff like that. When your nicotine levels are low, it causes ANXIETY, heart palpitations in some cases, headaches, and nausea. Notice how I said it causes anxiety when it's low. So, if you are indeed taking nicotine products, hold off for as long as possible, you'll still feel anxiety, but once you aren't addicted anymore, you won't... from the nicotine at least. |

There are ways to help cope with anxiety, but until you seek treatment (counseling, medication, professional coping strategies you can do on your own, or a combination thereof) you will merely be temporarily easing your anxiety rather than treating it or making it more manageable in your life. I understand you may have reasons for not wanting to seek help professionally, but it will serve you a lot better than anything (however helpful and well-meaning it may be) that we can offer you here. Most schools, employers and even the military have counseling and referrals available and no one else has to know. |

When in doubt, ask VideoNure as she is a licensed therapist/nurse |

Hi, I really feel for you. Anxiety can be very scary, it is easy for people to say get professional help and you should always go and get a check up. But doing this and taking medication is not always the answer. The first thing you have to find out what is causing it, you might be able to deal with it yourself. Maybe you are stressed, if so you need to try and relax, cut out Alcohol and caffeine, drink Green Tea. Look at your diet, are you a little over weight. Try and lose some weight, get as much fresh air as you can, I am over weight, drink alcohol and coffee. I to suffer with Anxiety, and it is a curse. I gave up coffee and beer, no dairy & lots of fresh air, and lost a stone in a month. And I have not had an attack since. I would say before you plan to loose weight, or just to be on the safe side, go to your doctor for a check up. |
