Ok so I lent my Windows 7 disk to a friend and he hasn't given it back yet but luckily I made an iso of it but I don't have a dvd to copy it to. So what I want to do is create a hard drive partition and install windows 7 from that? How do I go about this (btw I'm using a mac)?

Now I haven't done this before exactly, so I'm only guessing. You need to create a partition and then go to Disk Utility and select your partition. Then go to to the restore tab, and under source browse for the .iso and under destination just drag your partition from the left column into the box. When you restart your mac hold down the opt key and select the correct partition to begin the install. I hope this helps!

If you have a usb flash drive big enough you could install it from that. Just google "how to install windows 7 from a flash drive" then boot off the flash drive. I know that's not the answer to your question but it may be a less complicated alternative.
