A mother is racing to get her son's life back on track, since someone stole their car from the parking lot outside their apartment.

Christine Wells tells us how hard it's been since the heist on Sunday. "Having my car gone, not being able to take him to school and to his therapy appointments... my vehicle is really what completes me at this time."

What's worse, is what completes Christopher was inside: A custom made $3,000 dollar wheelchair to help him get around.

"We waited a long time to finally obtain the equipment and to have it taken away, it was really tough."

Christopher has a smile that can light up the room, but at 5 years old, he's already faced a lifetime of special challenges, suffering a major stroke just before he was born that left him with extensive neurological damage throughout his body, and brain damage that's affected his speech, his ability to eat, and to talk.

Christopher is getting stronger. His mom says he recently started crawling, and she hopes someday he can walk. Until then, he and his mother need that wheelchair, and they can't afford to replace it. "If anybody knows who took that vehicle please just ask them to park it, not damage or destroy the equipment that's in it.. just park it and walk away.

For now, friends are stepping in to help get Christopher around and get him back to a normal routine - something that's important for any kid - and as his mom says, even more important for Christopher. "A sense of balance and somehow creep away from all the trauma that's been inserted into his life, and he didn't ask for it. He doesn't deserve it. Christopher's got enough on his plate.

Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies are still looking for Christine's vehicle: Red 1995 GMC Jimmy WA License Plates: 908-VSU If you spot it please call CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS, Or the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

A fund has also been set up to help the family at Union Bank under the name Christopher Wells.
