I am getting a new computer within the next 7 days (it's shipping), and I wanted to move my files from my old desktop. It's mainly my whole iTunes library... about 15gb of video, 8gb in music, and 3gb in apps... I was wondering on the best way to do that.. I have an 8gb flash drive, but I thought that would take forever... so... any tips?

What OS's do the computers have?

The easiest and cheapest would be to network the two computer together and then copy over the files from one to the other. The other way would be to look for a online storage program.

If the computer is running XP or newer it would be fine. Just connect both computers to the network and then, On the old computer right click on the hard drive that the files are on and select properties and then go to sharing and enable sharing and then on the new computer just open up network wait a little and then you should see the old hard drive.

Another way would be to take the old hard drive out of the computer and then buy a like $30 hard drive enclosure to put it in(i can find a link to one if you want) and then you could just connect the enclosure to the new computer via USB and copy the files.

There is many ways to do it, flash drivesm, DVD Discs, Network Transfer, USB file transfer, etc.

I say the best for you is through your network

If you store files in the cloud, it's a good way to back up everything just in case you are not near your home computer

Here's what I would do: Put the laptop hard drive into the desktop temporarily. Transfer all your files on the desktop. Put the hard drive back into the laptop. Or just create a network, as TheTechDude said, but that would take a while.

Depending on what OSs the computers have you might be able to use Windows Easy Transfer if you don't feel comfortable using the other methods. This comes included in Windows 7, but you have to install it for Windows Vista & XP. I'm guessing you have XP if the computer is from 2003 so you might want to tak a look at this: Windows Easy Transfer- XP All you have to do is install the program on your old computer and then open it up on both and follow the instructions, it is pretty easy to do.
