[closed] Outlook 2000 in Windows 7 64-Bit

Since my Office 2010 Beta key will be expiring soon and my office 2007 key didn't work I will need to go back to Office 2000 which I have heard runs in Windows 7. So I installed Office 2000 Premium in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, but now when I open outlook it opens but then crashes right away. Is there anyway to get Outlook working? I know that Office 2000 is old but I do not have the money right now to buy Office 2010 so I have to use 2000 because I have it. All of the other programs work just not Outlook. I am going to try and reinstall, but I don't think that it will solve my problem. Any ideas??

It might be a lot easier to just use Open Office

The problem with that is that after using Office for so long I feel that OpenOffice just isn't good enough. I use it in my Ubuntu Virtual Machine all the time though.

Why not use Thunderbird? It's full and should all the the features you need for email.

Well if you can't afford getting a newer version looks like you aren't going to be able to use it...

I can afford it its just that I have better things to buy than Office so I am running it inside of XP mode. And i check it on my ipod touch.

Right-click on the exes that you're trying to run. Then when the properties window comes up, go to compatibility and set it to windows 2000

It got to the point now where it stays open a bit longer and then just closes.

Since you have Win7 ultimate you can do XP mode which is downloadable from Microsoft. It just runs windows XP in a vm. Its not very ideal, but it works.

I know I can but I don't want to have a VM of XP running just to check my email, all of the other programs work fine just not outlook.
