I recently upgraded my BIOS and it seriously messed up my LAN card so now I want to downgrade it.

I have an application called WinFlash that came with my Asus laptop that allows me to flash the BIOS. However when I select the file it tells me I cannot flash the BIOS because the version I'm trying to use is older than the one that is currently installed.

Is there a way to downgrade or even reset my BIOS?

Are there any driver updates that could fix that?

Have you asked ASUS? PS. I recommend not flashing in Windows, if possible.

I'm pretty sure they do this to stop people from downgrading to a "buggier" bios, regardless if it actually is buggy. Flashing your BIOS in windows is a huge risk anyways. You are better off flashing during boot up. If possible, you might be able to do it with a usb or through floppy(if your laptop has one).

You can downgrade the bios by getting an older version bios release. BIOS flashing essentially erases old bios and installs the new one. This can be reversed between versions. I know it's possible because of how all of the bios files are almost the same size.

What laptop are you using?

If a new bios actually causes problems, they need to do a better job at testing them.

I hate to say this, but I don't think that it is possible to downgrade a BIOS once it is flashed with the update it can't be "unflashed".
