What does your geeky living space look like? (Please include a picture or two.) If you want to share your workspace share it here: http://lockergnome.net/questions/994/what-does-your-workspace-look-like |

Living space, you say? Oh, you're gonna regret that when we get down to the kitchen and bathroom. Disclaimer: I live alone in a 1BR apartment, work from home, and almost never invite people over. I do not own a vacuum cleaner, toothpaste, nor a mop. My health is good, therefore I conclude my hygene and living conditions are adequate. I do not care for aesthetics in the traditional way they are judged. I shop for groceries on a monthly basis. You can guess the results. You have been warned.
My somewhat-famous Home Office. Visible in the far rear is a server rack in the dining room.
Opposite view. Visible in the far rear is a lowly storage area. Gas fireplaces are useless. Above that, my military "I Love Me" wall. Also visible: Dog leash, sick dog. Table to the left is used for paperwork sorting/filing and dog training.
But I usually leave the main lights off.
Kitchen, which is never cleaned. Cereal stored above cabinets, sorted numerically by fiber content per serving. Atop fridge: The cereal I'm currently using (i.e. open cereals), ice cube bins when not in use. Left: snack staging areas, for snacks not yet opened. Opened snacks are in the work area.
Bedroom. Class picture for lack of a better place to put it, old physical binders and books from years of yore. Atop dresser: Projector (not currently plugged in), boots, interview shoes, fan for warm days. Middle left: Dog bed. Right: Obsolete or broken Motherboards and expansion cards hung decoratively on wall. Who's gonna use a Radeon 9800 Pro All-In-Wonder anymore?
Opposite view of bedroom. Candles are the least objectionable way I've found for dispersing unwanted smells. Credentials hung on wall from when I had the Home Office in the bedroom and haven't gotten around to moving them back out to the living room yet. Nightstand: Light, alarm clock, ashtray, phone charger. At night, I keep all my "on me" stuff in a pile here. I never make my bed. When the dog isn't sick, he sleeps on the 15-year-old white blanket instead of in his own bed, whereas I enjoy my Egyptian Cotton.
Third bedroom angle. A geek doesn't need much in a bedroom, and I've been seriously considering switching back to a futon. A queen size bed is way too large for one person. Left: Shorts for hot days (I rarely bother washing them); behind dog: Yesterday's socks, because the hamper is undergoing laundry at the time. I'll let you be the one to figure out why it's only socks.
Bathroom, minimalist style, never cleaned. Rag for wiping after shaving, mouthwash and deodorant left over from when a friend stayed over. Glass of water, in which I keep my partial denture at night (Brush your teeth, kids; I got these when I was 25!), nail clipper used for both fingers and toes; shaving gel, Carmex for the winter. Toothbrush is rarely used and mostly just for getting gunk out of the denture on a particularly food-heavy day and for days in which I was eating sticky foods. Note the lack of toothpaste. Far right: Comb for those rare interview days, and the deodorant I do use. Note the shower has a curtain liner, but no actual curtain. Function over form. Toilet Paper is kept atop the counter because I can't be bothered to put it on the roll. This way it dispenses more neatly and in the exact amount desired. Toilet seat only goes down to poop. Mirror: I do one load of laundry a week. If I bothered to shower that week, the same towel from the laundry goes back onto the towel rack. If not, then it's still there from last week. Told you you'd regret asking. Needless to say, I'm single. Not worth the hassle. 1
I have seen your videos of you screen set up. I wish I had that. :) 2
dude that server of yours is LOUD i wached a vid of yours and man it was painfull! btw if i didn't have girlfriend AND my mom after me all the time i would be just like that... You are my hero!! (hahaha) 1
I would probably have the same set-up if I owned my own home. :) 1
It's not that loud in person; I think the cam mic is just oversensitive. That is a very detailed answer. 1
wow, I always imagined your place to be much bigger than that, but that is bloody insane 1
I always imagined you to live in some huge penthouse style place dude. XD your set up is mental!

Here's a pic:
Here's another one with me in it:
Not-so-big, but it's still cool. No, no it doesn't... He has two desk in a L shape. And many other people do too. He has the laptop on the closest to the camera because it is easy to move out of the way compared to the monitor and keyboard. Plants are common in the area around the desk. The red curtain is just red. Red is a popular color... Dude, I had this office before I even knew who Chris was. And that also supports that is isn't a copy of Chris. :) I like it!

A 22" iMac, 15.5" Thinkpad with Win7, and my desktop with 2x 24" also running Windows 7. I won't go into detail of the specs because they're not too important. Resting on a large desk with enough space/drawers to hide in. To the left of me is a HUGE System of a Down poster along with about 2 metres of shelves with EVERYTHING on them. Also this is a duplicate question nah? |

Here is mine. I am planing on redoing the floors soon. And getting new furniture. :) I spend most of my time at my desk so it is basically my living space. lol I will get pictures of my room soon. Maybe also some from other places in my house if my parents are okay with it.

Here take a look at a YouTube video that I did awhile ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky6WS2ZiDPo |

It's a large one, but I thought this would resize it.

This sounds like a good question.

A good question I will answer in the morning. I am in pitch black ATM in the UK (just past midnight)
