I want to download a program and I have to pick either

Hope this helped. If you want to boot into 64-bit kernel, you can try holding down 6 and 4 at startup. Run through the procedure above to see whether it booted into 64-bit kernel correctly. I'm pretty sure both 32-bit and 64-bit versions will work if you're booting into the 64-bit kernel. |

If you are running Snow Leopard then you need the 64 bit version. If you are running Leopard, you can choose either (but I think 32 bit would work better. I'm not sure, so don't take my word on 64 bit on Leopard). |

Go to the System Profiler. Then under software their should be something that says " 64-bit Kernel and Extensions:". If you want to run in (Snow Leopard only) 64-bit mode without pressing 6+4 every time you boot up this video might help |

quit simple if it has more than 4gb of system memory (ram + video ram) it got to be 64 bit |
