I hate macs, don't get me wrong, the gear is swell! it's just that, well there is to much noise around them (and i don't mean the sound level) especialy by people that i really think they don't know what CAT5e means for ethernet cables (yes, i think it's importand). I must say though that when the right equipment falls at the right hands miracles happen and i have witnessed that too. What do you think about the majority of mac users? are they geeks or just people with expensive phones/computers/media players that they don't need and never use? Around me is more like the 2nd but then again i have only been in my town where i admit we are not at the edge of technology and definetly we don't have the smartest people (i would call them Bumpkins), in fact they measure their social status by the price of their phone... Also, is the situation around you like mine?

I've been using Apple for many many years now, from before the time Steve Jobs was back to help Apple get back on track. During that time it was not common to see an Apple. When you saw someone it was something 'special'.

"Hey, you have a Macintosh, that's awesome!"

It's stupid to say, but there was always an instant connection between Mac users, because back in those days almost everyone laughed at Apple and Apple users.

Now, when you enter a coffeeshop or a library, you see Apple's everywhere.

Apple has reached so many people now, so yeah, ofcourse there are loads of idiots, braggers, etc, using it. That's what you get when you reach a bigger audience. For every bragging Mac user out there, there is an Apple hating Windows user. ;)

Generalizing is a dangerous approach to take in life... It entails a level of assumption.

To ASSUME makes an ASS out of U and ME.

I could give you a generalized answer tagging all Mac users into one big bucket and say "They're all _". But to be honest it wouldn't be fair. There ARE Mac geeks who know the difference between CAT5e and UTP and STP and RJ-45 (before going to wiki, do YOU? xD).

Better talk about what Apple sells. Yes, Apple sells social status, that's no secret, they even brag about it. You pay more because you're not only paying for the components, you're paying "to be a Mac". And it's not a bad thing, because people pay for it. They have a market, you (and I) are just not in their scope of satisfiable customers. :)

I'm a power user, so Macs are not thought to satisfy people like me (I like to tear my computer inside out). But that doesn't mean Mac users are stupid, they just don't care about those kind of things.

By your karma points, I thought you were new to LockerGnome Q & A. From your profile, I realize that's NOT the case. You've been laying low, not attracting attention since mid June. Very stealthy cool =0p...

Apple, Inc. has mostly catered to the Creative & Artistic users, so what did you expect? The flamboyant & enthusiastic of this demographic love attention. I paid this much for my Apple X, and your non-Apple X isn't as good ... as they snub their noses in the air.

In the end, WHO CARES WHAT THEY THINK!!! Leave THEM be, and move on with your life =0p...
