I would say iron man 2, it's a recent hit at the box office, and it didn't sell as many tickets as avatar did, but that may have been because of the poor trailer, if you've not seen it yet then i would advise you to head down to the cinema and see it.

This is a hard one. I'm a SciFi fanatic but SciFi isn't exactly known for outstanding award achievements and critical acclaim.

Wrath of Kahn for "Trek" Aliens for "horror" Dune or Six String Samurai for "post apocalyptic cult" Twins for "Swartzy Comedy" All Mel Brooks films

As for greatest movie ever, i'd have to just go with the majority rule on this and say Shawshank Redemption. I'm not important enough to really rate the greatest movie ever.
