Into a standard 3.5 output?

True surround sound isn't important...I just want to be able to play music through it, from my iMac.

You will need a Audio reciever... You cannot just plug a standard 3.5 mm jack to it...It is a digital audio connection and you will need to convert it from a digital audio source to an analog source..

Mine does on the front, but I don't want the wire to be infront where everybody can see.

I like to keep my wires tidy. :P

well the cables will work then. and not all receivers have them. many current ones do..
