So, I have had this app called superdocker for a while now, and it allows you do change your dock, and also the background of your login page. I realized that since i had changed these 2 when i got snow leopard, and installed it, that the dock and homescreen (when restored back to there original settings) are the same as they were in leopard, and snow leopard did not install the new dock and login background screen. So last night, i just went ahead and restored everything back to what it was, and deleted the app. when Lion comes out next summer, and i get it and install it, will it update to what ever it is that lion will look like with those 2 things, the login background and new dock? |

That is a problem with a third party application but if you want to change the login background manually it can be found here /System/Library/CoreServices/DefaultDesktop.jpg and the dock should be found somewhere in here /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources. (All the file names must stay the same) |

If your asking will Lion have the customisation featured for the dock to match the features of superdocker... then we dont know yet and there had been no rumors or leaks talking about the dock. if your asking if the third party app (superdocker) will be fully compatible and without bugs, it depends on how hard they work on it. im sure that if they are a professional app developer they will get hold of the developer release of lion and have there app compatible. no, i deleted super docker, and i will never use it again. What i am wondering, is if, when lion comes out, it will put/install the new dock and login background (if lion has a new one of the 2) on my computer that lion comes with. Or will it stay the same as it is now, which is the leopard dock, login background, and now, i found out, stacks? A fresh install of lion should install lion exactly as it is released. i would back your data up and do a fresh install of lion, and not an upgrade to make sure there is no glitches if you are having back end problems. Safe rather than Sorry From what i have found out about lion so far, the dock looks exactly the same, i know northing of the login screen the recent apple event shows small previews of the other functions, apple.com has the keynote in full or youtube will have the clips relevant to lion |
