In 2 years time Ill have to choose a degree to study at Uni. Well i can definately say that I love fixing up peoples laptops and making them run faster, removing viruses etc. Maybe i should become a computer tech i dunno lol. I just want to know now!!!! lol |

I totally just had to write a paper about career choices in Consumers Education (high school course), and from the website provided, I chose Computer Engineer (System & Applications Software) and, don't laugh at this, "Computer Support Person". Yes, they really worded it like that. So I just casually drifted off to saying Computer Support Technician during my report. I'd just take a deeper look into each category, find what suited me best, and go for it. Don't be afraid of learning new things either. |

I feel your issues. I had no clue either. I actually wanted to be a web designer, till I did my industrial year (year out) and worked in the industry and found I hated it. I found I needed a job with a lot of prais and job satisfaction and teaching and fixing peoples computers fits that bill for me. If you do comp sci you will gain a lot of knowledge and will get to learn linux, web design, programming and then you could go on to do robotics, advanced programming like C or aim more for web. It sounds like you want to do some kind of computer engineering course. I have friends that never went to uni either and are in the computer industry doing things and making oh so much cash. Maybe see if you can get to try out some of these jobs, perhaps volunteer at your local pc shop to see if you can gain some experience of doing the fixing stuff in the real world. |
