Think about how you would feel if someone was downloading your song for free.

If a person bought it in the first place so they can host it, I wouldn't care.

I would be delighted if that person bought tickets to my concert because he loved my music. Think Radiohead. Think Stephen King. File sharing is not evil. RIAA is evil.

I'm not a fan of LimeWire, because it features a lot of illegal activities.

I think that it should be shutdown because there are people that use it to get free music which is illegal. I will not miss Limewire being gone. I agree with Yuma with everything he said. I thought that Limewire would have been shutdown as soon as the record companies found out.

As for the record companies...they're not the cowboy in the white hat either. You have artists who have never received what royalties they are entitled to...because the record companies have better/higher paid lawyers than the artists.

Both parties are wrong...but suing people to keep your illicit gains flowing...rather than to the artists makes the record companies more guilty for "speaking out of both sides of their mouth".

The base client was released under GPL (open source), so it's not that big of a deal, another nearly identical client with a different name could spawn in a few days.

I don't mind the P2P file sharing, what I hated was the virus spree that you get from using it.

Technically limewire isn't illegal because all it is, is a P2P sharing program but the things most people do with limewire is illegal

I am honestly really surprised no one has shut them down for years. I mean everyone knows Limewire, everyone uses it, but yet no one has closed it. Maybe its doing the same thing as Piratebay. There reason was something like they aren't doing any thing illegal just linking it. I don't know if it applies to Limewire, I have no idea how it works.

It should be. I don't think it will be shut down anytime soon though.

It was inevitable. Infact its an achievement it took so long to be shut down. It was riddled with viruses anyway so it was going down hill anyway.

Do you think someone will buy Limewire, like Napster?
