I changed my start orb on Windows 7 to my logo. When I hover over the button, some streaks of light wrap around my logo, then when I click down it glows read. 8)
Mehhh...thats about it... like the way Win 7 looks

I normally do small customizations. I add a few menu extras like iStat, and I modify the way certain features work to better suit me.. such as setting up "Computer" as my default directory in the Finder rather than my Home folder, and I also remove external drives from the Desktop, change font sizes here and there, make all files visible in Finder, and other little things.
Once in awhile I use to mess with deeper functionality such as themes. I changed icons and system images, the color of the menu bar, the dock graphics, the Window textures... in fact everything in Mac OS X is changeable if you know how... it's mostly just png and PDF files for the textures and then raw XML files that represent the controls themselves (that are like the skeleton that the code binds to).
