A mouse is defiantly better than a trackpad, however trackpads are much better than a trackball!

What is the ball used for?

(Apr 03 '11 at 10:13) Yogi Yogi's gravatar image

The trackball is used with your thumb to move the mouse pointer on the screen. I have used trackballs for over 20 years and prefer them for their speed and precision. I find their accuracy, along with with keeping my wrist and hand stable and supported, has helped with preventing numbness in my fingers, wrist and elbows that I have experienced in the past with trackpads and some mice.

I like both. I really depends on what I am going to be doing. If I am going to be gaming a Mouse is a must. However if all I am going to be doing is browsing the web a track-pad is fine. When I leave the house with my laptop I don't even bring a mouse with unless I know that I am going to be gaming when I get where I am going as I am comfortable with using the track-pad. So really is just depends however I still prefer the mouse.

Me personally I think a mouse has more features than a trackpad especially on windows.

I like my trackpad just because most mouses can't scroll horizontally.

Yes they can especially that mouse up there - not the ball one - mine... that scrolls horizontally when you move the scroll wheel right and left.

Yeah that is a good point - but because I have got a wireless mouse I just put it into my laptop bag and go :)

As much as i have tried to love trackpads i still end up going to use the mouse just because i find it slightly faster(or it feels more right) but with macs a trackpad does make it more productive to have trackpads because of the gestures.
