I am guessing 16 gb is ram...

It should not mostly make the system run faster, the bottleneck of the computer at that point is Hard Drive Read/Write speed...

As someone else said here, ultimately it depends on what you use it for. For websurfing, YouTubing, Facebooking, word processing, that kind of stuff, it's kind of redundant. However if you're someone who uses very demanding apps, i.e. Photoshop, any video editing apps, audio editing apps, etc., then yes, the more RAM the better.

It varies for everyone. Having 16Gb of RAM would be great but if you only have use for 4gb then that extra 12 is just wasted. Depends what programs you run regularly.
