Trying to encrypt my flash drive, and I use it on computers other than my own (Obviously, it's purpose). However the recommended encryption software TrueCrypt requires you to have the program on the computer to access the drive. This doesn't work for me. Is there some sort of encryption that stays with the device?

How would that work? Encrypt/decrypt before the interface, so the only people you'd be guarding information from are those who don't have a USB port?

You could use zip files, assuming Windows XP. Right click the files you want to "encrypt", goto send to, then compressed (zipped) folder. Once that's done, right click the zip folder and click open with, then compressed (zipped) folder. At the file menu, goto add a password...

Aside from that, I see no way to "encrypt files", without software, for use on computers other than your own... Why would you want to, by the way?

I was going to ask the same question, he may have the same reason as me, I want to encrypt data on my flash drives but I can't install truecrypt on every computer I use i.e school networked computers.

This came on my Memorex Flash drive. It runs from a .exe on the flash drive but doesn't install anything on the computer.
