I have been using my 16 gig flash drive for about the last 11 months and all of a sudden earlier today it started acting weird and wouldnt let me access any of my files on it and since I have a backup of it on my computer I thought I would format it and I did by right clicking it then selecting format and did a quick format and when it was done it said it was unable to format it so I then unchecked quick format and the same thing happened and I have a low level format program and I formatted it that way and it seemed like it wanted to work so I just copied a few songs on it and then the same thing as before happened and now it is telling me I cant even format it. In your opinion do you think there is a way to fix it or do you think its broken somehow because I really would like to fix it because I payed about 80 bucks for it. |

were did you buy it from, and did you ever fill the whole drive since you got it? i had this problem, and found it was one of the many 'fake' drives that are floating about. try to format it like this: plug it in, go to my computer, right click on it, and select format. change the format to Fat32 and then try the format/quick format. if that fails, try a diffrent file format. once you have it formatted (btw if it doesnt format to any other structure except 1 then it's a good indication it's a fake drive) then test the drive, h2test http://www.heise.de/ct/c-t-Systeminfo-473388.html (think theres something wrong with the site at the moment) click on H2test 1.6 download it and open it. click on english, select target, select the drive, and run 'write and veryfy'. if it coems back with any errors, the drive has eather physical damage to the data area's or is a fake drive. this is what would be causing the problem. if the drive is damaged (and not a fake drive) and out of warrenty, it's unlikely to be repaired, it's as good as garbage food. you could contact the manufacturer of the memory stick's customer survices, you might be able to get a good result from them, as for someone or yourself actually fixing a physical defect with it, it's not going to be possible. ive already formatted it that way and i believe its beyond repair because i also formatted in command prompt as a fat 32 and once it was done it said there was over a million damaged sectors but im gona keep trying and try what you just told me hopefully it will work and heres what it told me in my command prompt if it may help
