I want to make my blog and other services (non existent yet) more popular

I want to make my blog and other services (non existent yet) more popular, what sort of things can I do? I have a geeky things related blog,i intend to jointly make a forum and site with a mate or two and make a browser for windows and upload it to sourceforge and my one friend can games so we were gonna set them a home up on the site. Just wondering where are I can make this blog more well know and is there anyone out there in the same boat who would like to cross refer to each others websites ?:D
