My favorite brand of computer is HP, or the ones I build :P What is yours? |

The best brand: Dell. Never had any problems with Dell computers, one of my friends did but a call to customer support was able to get a new part shipped to them. Yeah that is what my brother uses at home as well BSD on a Dell!!!!!!! Now I am taking parts of that dell and hooking them up to my Macbook Pro though and the accesaries still work great. I have so far taken keyboard, mouse and speakers and I will soon take the monitor once I get the VGA adapter. I got a BSOD on one of my Dell's but it was because of a bad Graphics card update that was fixed with another update. Are you sure thats not why it happened you can't just blame Dell. We just called the computer dead and used the laptop. I was not as much of a geek back over a year ago. Later though when I started to become a geek I was wondering what the blue screen had said so I went down to the basement and turned it on but nothing showed up on screen. I had a Dell: a Vostro 1000. I hated it. And I mean despised. The day it started working like a computer was the day I installed Ubuntu. And it was missing wireless drivers until the day it died. Not even two years with the crappy thing.

Personally, I love Dell. I've had 2 Dell Laptops and 4 Dell Desktops over the years, and only one of each has died of some catastrophic failure. The laptop had the graphics card crap out after 2 years, and the desktop had a hard drive failure after 3. I am on a Dell right now that I got last year, and I have no complaints. |
What's up with acer? I've known a lot of people own them with no probs. My laptop is an acer is totally fine. I've known more people have probs with dell though. I've been through 3 acer laptops in 2 years... Acer laptops are disposable. They are cheap pieces of crap. HP for me. All my geeky friends tell me not to get Acers. Do you speak from experience or have you not gotten one at all because your "geeky friends" told you not to? I only ask because I've owned a few Acer laptop over the years, and never had any issue with them WHAT so ever, and am currently using this one for live audio recording with some pretty high-end software, and I've never had any issues, internally or externally. All these people that are against Acer have either never had one, or generally treat them like crap/run them into the ground, therefore they don't last long at all. 20 years ago, if you had asked me to buy an Acer product I would've laughed in your face repeatedly. Today, they have stepped up the game and have become quite a competitor in not only laptops, but monitors as well.

I have a nice, reliable Gateway laptop. Nothing special, but it's the first and only laptop I've ever owned, so I guess it has to be my personal favorite. I do prefer PCs over Macs for a couple reasons, but I won't bore you by posting that here. I actually think that I've posted my argument somewhere else on this site... |

And he gave all those thumbs up to himself - well I can't talk really.
