Actually, for the time each movie was made, each actor was great at playing the role. It's only the fact that the last two movies were darker, which made the Batman(played by Christian Bale) standout as best. Each movie had a different style to the others, of which each actor brought their own acting style to.

Michael Keaton's 'Batman' is my favorite. Co-Stars: Jack Nicholson's 'Joker', Kim Basinger's 'Vicky Vail', Danny Devito's 'Penguin', and Michelle Pfeiffer's 'Catwoman', etc. performances complimented each other without stealing the show. Heath Ledger's 'Joker' is brilliant - the best! but with a different 'Batman'.
