for one dont ever DCC accept messages from anyone or only join a irc server where they mask the ips, you can also use a proxy server to connect as well as it supports sock4 in most instances. also try bnc

how do you configure a proxy server?

you can usually find a proxy server list online that support socks 4 and 5, then add the proxy server to your options in your irc client

Your IP on most networks, including GeekShed is your hostname encrypted into a hostmask. No one can gather your IP unless they are network staff members. And as mentioned DCC can compromise yourself. I would disable all DCC communications on mIRC or the client you use.

Be aware, proxies and similar services are blocked on most networks and could lead to a GZ:line. I don't recommend any type of proxy or anonymizer. An independent BNC service or VPN would work.
