I import my movie into iMovie - edit - then either use the inbuilt "share on YouTube" feature, or just export the movie then use YouTube to upload. It's pretty straight forward once you get the hang of it.

Youtube has a basic editor on the site you can use when you upload videos :), but if you want to edit them with more features use : imovie, Sony Vegas or some of the Adobe Products like Premire or After Effects.

iMovie comes with all Macs, and for a "free" application, it is pretty powerful. Import your footage, and edit to your desire. Then when you're done editing, save your project, then export the video. Then when you will be able to upload it to YouTube.
