I started a website and I am trying to get publicity for it how can I get publicity for the site |
Link friends to it, if there is something on it you want us to see, tell us. Tag things on the site with words people are likely to search for (but don't just do it for the sake of it). |
All depends on the content of the website. Once you know exactly the content, think about where your target audience will be and attempt to go there and catch their attention. This can be done via adverts or word of mouth. |
Find online communities based on what your site is focused on and promote through their forums. Try getting partnerships where you can place an advertisement on their site and in exchange place their advertisements on your site. Make YouTube videos showing your site, but make sure to do that in a casual yet professional way that makes it look like you're not setting up a scam site or something. |
Put content on the site that people would want to come to your site for and put links to your site everywhere |
A lot of PR work has to do with setting up funnels so you have a steady stream of information coming to you. Ex. Google alerts is amazing for getting daily emails about topics within your industry. You;d be surprised how many times I've had my daily google alert tip me on a potential press match, or partnership opportunity. There is also a StartupPlay on this topic that guides you through a comprehensive how to for getting insane publicity for your company. It's here http://startupplays.com/plays/how_dna_11_gets_startup_publicity |

The first step is to write amazing, unique content. Without great content that's unique, your marketing tactics will go downhill from there. Once you have unique content, I'd recommend promoting your site on social bookmarking sites like Reddit and Digg. Also, I'd recommend connecting with other excellent content producers (writers, bloggers, vloggers, etc.) and actively commenting on others' blog posts because that can also drive major traffic. These are the things I've been doing and they're working wonders for my three-month-old blog. |
