A class partner installed W7 on his Toshiba notebook, the small ones that comes only with W7 Starter.

According to what he told me, when installing W7, he turned off the mouse pad and used a USB mouse before installation. After installed, he could not use the mouse pad, so for using the mouse he always have to use a USB mouse.

What can you suggest that might be wrong and how can it solved?

Apparently he did looked for the drivers and installed it. But that is still didn't worked.

Is it possible that the touchpad damaged or something similar for disabling it before installation begin?
