My friend have a surveillance camera system that already hooked up.
He can watch it on the monitor in his house.
He want to connect that to the internet so he can see it from internet.
He have Clear internet (Motorola modem).
I googled on how to do it.
I created an account at dyndns.com
and at his DVR, I went to network setup, I choose DDNS.
There is 4 text box right there:
DDNS server DDNS Username Password
I tried to go to the website, xxxx.dyndns.tv but it shows up the modem login page.
whats wrong with that?
anybody have any experienced on hooking up DVR with Clear (motorola modem)?

You need to find out what port it operates on and forward that port, via your router to that devices internal IP, then you need to direct the camera viewing program to your IP
So if your I.P is 126.96.36.199 and the camera port is 1337 then you should be able to view the camera world wide by directing your viewer to 188.8.131.52:1337. This is how I use VNC from a friends house. If you use dyndns to get a static address then you will need to set that up to but I have never used that my self. Later today I will get my friend to come one here and explain how it works if you need that

I have 2 webcams set up to my desktop and can see them on the desktop monitor. I have installed VNC sever onto the desktop then VNC veiwer on my laptop when i use CNV to connect to my desktop i can see my desktop screen on my laptop and can do all the things as i was sitting on my desktop but im sitting in my garden on my laptop.
you will have to let it through your firewalls and open ports. I have it over my home network there is a port to open to let it run over the internet. I use this set up cos its all FREE! I have not tryed to log into my desktop over the internet yet.
For webcams there is a program that you can get called EYELINE its a security program it lets add 6 differnt makes of webcam ( must be different makes or it wont see them ) i have a xbox 360 webcam and a logiteck cam running and its set up like the cams in a shop. with added bits like motion senser record, 1 click record, record all cams and spin through all the cams u have, you can set it to record the cam and send the file to your email. Eyeline is a trial ( i used ) so you may pay or have to reinstall it every so often.
